A dawn blessing on 30 March 2023 marked the opening of the brand-new Wairau Children’s Respite Home. This is a purpose-built house which has been designed to allow for up to six families with children who have disabilities and complex needs to access respite care for their tamariki at any given time.

At the end of 2022 a new purpose-built Haemodialysis Unit opened at Nelson Hospital servicing patients in the Top of the South.
